Step 4: After they’ve double checked that no amount of decay has been left behind, your dentist will use a special material known as gutta-percha to seal the exposed chamber shut. This prevents another infection from developing.
Step 5: The hole made on the top of surface of the tooth is also sealed up, usually with a dental crown or a dental filling. This is only a temporary measure; eventually, you will need to have a permanent crown placed to keep your tooth strong and functioning properly.
Step 6: If needed, your dentist will schedule a follow-up visit so they can see how your mouth is healing. In some cases, the patient may need additional dental work to restore the tooth’s function and appearance.
